Placements24 seeks a Senior Process Engineer specializing in water treatment for our client in Sandton, Gauteng. You will design and optimize industrial water and wastewater systems, drive feasibility studies, and develop PFDs/P&IDs to meet stringent environmental standards.

The role requires 7+ years in process engineering with water treatment expertise, strong analytical skills, and effective communication with clients and regulators.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Chemical or Environmental Engineering or equivalent.
• Minimum 7 years in process engineering with industrial water/wastewater focus.
• Experience with multiple water treatment technologies (filtration, membranes, ion exchange, biological).
• Proficiency in process simulation software relevant to water treatment.
• Strong water chemistry knowledge and contaminant removal principles.
• Experience in project management and client interaction.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and reporting skills.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Pr.Eng registration or eligibility is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Design and engineer water and wastewater systems for industrial use.
• Optimize treatment processes to boost efficiency and reduce chemicals/waste.
• Conduct feasibility studies and pilot trials for new technologies.
• Develop PFDs, P&IDs, and equipment specs.
• Run process simulations and calculations to ensure compliance and performance.
• Troubleshoot operations and support site personnel.
• Collaborate with project managers, clients, and regulators.
• Prepare technical proposals, reports, and presentations.
• Ensure designs comply with environmental regulations and standards.
• Stay updated on new water treatment technologies and methods.
