Qualifications

• Proficiency with Maya, Houdini, Nuke and RenderMan; strong scheduling/budget skills.

Responsibilities

About the Role

Join a groundbreaking animation studio as a Senior VFX Supervisor , a fully remote position offered by Our client, a leader in creating visually stunning content for the global Arts & Entertainment market. This role is paramount in guiding the visual effects pipeline for major feature film projects, ensuring artistic vision is translated into breathtaking on-screen realities. You will remotely oversee a team of talented VFX artists, collaborate with directors and producers, and manage the technical execution of complex visual effects sequences. This role requires a deep understanding of all aspects of the VFX workflow, from conceptualization to final compositing. As a remote-first organization, we provide a highly collaborative digital environment and the resources necessary for you to excel from your home base in or around Pretoria .

Key Responsibilities

• Oversee and direct the creation of all visual effects for assigned feature film projects, ensuring alignment with the director's vision and artistic goals.
• Collaborate closely with directors, producers, and department heads to define the VFX strategy, workflow, and execution plan.
• Manage and mentor the on-site and remote VFX teams, providing clear direction, feedback, and technical guidance.
• Break down complex shots into manageable tasks for artists and ensure efficient distribution of work.
• Liaise with external vendors and studios to ensure seamless integration of outsourced VFX work.
• Monitor the VFX budget and schedule, proactively identifying and mitigating risks to delivery.
• Review dailies and provide constructive feedback to artists, ensuring creative and technical quality.
• Troubleshoot technical issues that arise during the production pipeline.
• Stay at the forefront of VFX technology, techniques, and trends, and advocate for their adoption where appropriate.
• Participate in client reviews and present VFX concepts and progress updates.

Requirements

• Extensive experience as a VFX Supervisor or senior VFX artist on high-profile feature films.
• Proven track record of successfully delivering complex visual effects projects.
• Deep understanding of the entire VFX pipeline, including modeling, texturing, rigging, animation, lighting, rendering, compositing, and simulation.
• Proficiency with industry-standard VFX software and tools (e.g., Maya, Houdini, Nuke, RenderMan).
• Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate diverse teams.
• Excellent problem-solving and decision-making abilities under pressure.
• Familiarity with budget and schedule management.
• A keen eye for detail, composition, and visual storytelling.
• Ability to work effectively in a remote, collaborative environment.
• A degree in Computer Graphics, Fine Arts, or a related field is preferred.
