Placements24 is seeking an experienced Senior VFX Supervisor to lead a fully remote team for top film/TV projects in South Africa. You will oversee concept, execution, and integration of complex VFX sequences, collaborating with directors and production teams to ensure artistic and technical excellence.

The role requires a minimum of 10 years in visual effects, strong leadership, and expertise across Maya, Houdini, Nuke, After Effects, V-Ray, and Arnold.

Qualifications

• Minimum 10 years in visual effects with supervisory or lead roles on major film/TV projects.
• Proven track record delivering high-quality VFX on complex, large-scale productions.
• Deep understanding of VFX pipeline: modeling, texturing, lighting, rendering, sim, and comp.
• Proficiency with Maya, Houdini, Nuke, After Effects, V-Ray, and Arnold.
• Strong leadership, communication, and remote-team management skills.
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Graphics, Fine Arts, or related field, or equivalent exp.

Key Responsibilities

• Supervise the end-to-end creation of visual effects, from pre-production planning and concept development to final compositing and delivery.
• Collaborate intimately with film directors, producers, and other department heads to understand and realize the project's visual goals.
• Lead and mentor a global team of VFX artists, TDs, and supervisors, providing clear direction, constructive feedback, and technical guidance.
• Develop and implement effective VFX pipelines, ensuring seamless integration of various departments and workflows.
• Manage project timelines, resources, and budgets efficiently to meet delivery deadlines and client expectations.
• Attend dailies and production meetings, offering expert insights and solutions to creative and technical challenges.
• Ensure the artistic integrity and technical quality of all VFX elements, maintaining consistency with the film's overall aesthetic.
• Stay at the forefront of VFX technology, evaluating and recommending new tools, software, and techniques to enhance production capabilities.
• Troubleshoot complex technical issues that arise during the production process.
• Present VFX concepts and progress to clients and internal stakeholders, effectively communicating technical and creative decisions.

Requirements

• A minimum of 10 years of experience in visual effects, with a substantial portion spent in supervisory or lead roles on major film or television productions.
• Proven track record of successfully delivering high-quality VFX on complex, large-scale projects.
• Deep understanding of all facets of the VFX pipeline, including 3D modeling, texturing, lighting, rendering, simulation, and compositing.
• Proficiency with industry-standard VFX software (e.g., Maya, Houdini, Nuke, After Effects, V-Ray, Arnold).
• Exceptional leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills, vital for managing a remote team.
• Strong problem-solving abilities and a calm demeanor under pressure.
• A keen artistic eye for composition, color theory, lighting, and visual storytelling.
• Experience in managing budgets and schedules for VFX sequences.
• Ability to think creatively and technically to overcome production challenges.
