Job summary

Placements24 is seeking an experienced Senior Urban Design Architect to join our client in Vereeniging, Gauteng, on a hybrid basis. You will lead master planning, placemaking, and the integration of sustainable and community-focused design principles across large-scale projects.

You will shape urban environments from visioning to detailed design guidelines, mentor junior designers, and collaborate with municipal authorities, developers, and communities to promote walkability and social equity.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in Urban Design, Urban Planning, or Architecture with specialization in Urban Design.
• Minimum of 7 years of professional experience in urban design and planning.
• Proven experience leading the design of complex urban development projects.
• Strong portfolio showcasing successful urban master planning and design work.
• Proficiency in urban design software (e.g., ArcGIS, AutoCAD, SketchUp, Rhino, Adobe Creative Suite).
• Excellent understanding of urban planning principles, zoning, placemaking, and sustainable development.
• Exceptional graphic communication, presentation, and public speaking skills.
• Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines effectively; strong collaboration and stakeholder engagement.
