Job summary

Placements24 in South Africa seeks a Transportation Engineer based in Mahikeng to plan, design and implement efficient road and transit infrastructure. You will analyze traffic patterns, develop management solutions and contribute to regional mobility and safety.

The ideal candidate holds a Civil Engineering degree with a Transportation specialization, 6+ years’ experience, and proficiency in VISSIM or TransCAD, with strong analytical and communication skills.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering with a specialization in Transportation Engineering.
Minimum of 6 years of experience in transportation planning and design.
Proficiency in transportation modeling software such as VISSIM, TransCAD, or similar.
Strong understanding of traffic engineering principles and geometric design standards.
Experience with traffic impact assessments and corridor studies.
Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.

Responsibilities

Conduct traffic studies and analyses to assess transportation needs.
Design road networks, intersections, and traffic control systems.
Develop transportation master plans and feasibility studies for new infrastructure projects.
Prepare engineering drawings, specifications, and cost estimates for transportation projects.
Collaborate with municipal planners, urban designers, and other stakeholders to integrate transportation solutions.
Ensure designs comply with relevant transportation standards and safety regulations.
