Job summary

The Senior Vocational Skills Trainer will deliver hands-on vocational training in a designated trade at a prominent technical college in Upington, Northern Cape, guiding learners through practical assessments and modern training materials.

You will ensure a safe workshop, maintain equipment standards, and collaborate with industry partners to keep content current and industry-relevant, while supporting students toward successful careers in Upington and beyond.

Qualifications

• A relevant trade qualification and/or a National Technical Diploma/Certificate.
• Minimum of 6 years of proven experience in the relevant trade/industry.
• Minimum of 3 years of experience in training, teaching, or mentoring within a vocational setting.
• Strong practical skills and in-depth knowledge of the designated trade.
• Excellent communication and instructional abilities.

Responsibilities

• Deliver comprehensive, hands-on vocational training in a designated trade area.
• Develop and update training modules, practical exercises, and assessment tools relevant to industry standards.
• Conduct practical demonstrations and provide clear, step-by-step guidance to trainees.
• Assess trainee competency through practical evaluations, written tests, and observation.
• Ensure the safe operation and maintenance of workshop equipment and tools.
• Maintain a safe, organized, and productive training environment, adhering to all health and safety regulations.
• Monitor trainee progress, provide constructive feedback, and offer additional support where needed.
• Liaise with industry partners to ensure training content remains current and relevant.
• Contribute to the continuous improvement of vocational training programs offered by the college.
