Placements24 is urgently seeking a Senior Telecoms Network Engineer for a fully remote role based in Pietermaritzburg, KwaZulu-Natal, or other remote locations. You will design and implement scalable network solutions, managing routers, switches, firewalls, and transmission equipment for a global clientele.

Ideal candidates have 7+ years in telecom network engineering, strong TCP/IP and routing knowledge, plus VPN/IDS/IPS expertise. A Bachelor's degree is required, with a Master's preferred.

Qualifications

• Degree in CS/EE/Telecommunications or related field.
• Advanced knowledge of TCP/IP, routing protocols, and MPLS.
• Experience with firewalls, VPNs, and IDS/IPS.
• Familiarity with network monitoring and security best practices.

Key Responsibilities

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Telecommunications, or a related field.

• Minimum of 7 years of progressive experience in telecommunications network engineering, with a proven track record in designing and managing complex networks.
• In-depth knowledge of TCP/IP, routing protocols (e.g., BGP, OSPF), switching technologies, and MPLS.
• Experience with network security principles, including firewalls, VPNs, and intrusion detection/prevention systems.
• Proficiency in network monitoring tools and performance analysis techniques.
• Strong understanding of wireless communication technologies (e.g., 4G, 5G) and fiber optic networks.
• Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills, with the ability to articulate technical concepts to diverse audiences.
• Demonstrated experience working in a fully remote environment, with strong self-discipline and time management skills.
