The School of Chemical and Minerals Engineering at NWU Potchefstroom campus seeks a Senior Technician to provide technical services for its laboratories and research equipment. The fixed-term appointment supports teaching and research through equipment repairs, maintenance, design and manufacturing, and supervision of junior workshop staff.

Applicants require a National Diploma or equivalent NQF level 6, an N3 in Mechanical Engineering, and a suitable trade certificate in Fitting and Turning,

Qualifications

• National Diploma or equivalent NQF level 6.
• An N3 in Mechanical Engineering is required.
• A suitable trade certificate in Fitting and Turning, Turning or Die-Making is required.
• At least three years of experience as a boilermaker or fitter and turner.
• One year of supervisory experience is advantageous.

Responsabilités

• Provide technical services supporting laboratories and research equipment.
• Carry out equipment repairs and maintenance.
• Assist in design and manufacturing related to teaching and research.
• Supervise junior workshop staff.
