Job summary

Fempower in South Africa seeks a Technical Manager to steer technical insurance strategy across the organization. You will serve as the primary technical authority for non-life insurance issues, guiding strategic projects and advising members and external stakeholders.

The role requires deep expertise in Property, Liability, Marine and Engineering, strong underwriting and risk assessment skills, and the ability to lead cross-functional teams and high-level industry forums.

Qualifications

• Minimum 15 years' experience in non-life insurance.
• Recognised technical expertise across major non-life classes.
• Strong underwriting, risk assessment and market trend knowledge.

Responsibilities

• Strategic Leadership: Provide strategic direction on technical insurance matters and governance.
• Stakeholder Engagement: Represent the industry at senior meetings with FSCA, PA, NT, and DTIC.
• Project Management: Lead industry projects and manage specialist forums (Property Technical Committee, Specialist Business Lines Forums).
• Specialist Lines & Nuclear Insurance: Oversee SANP/SANPA operations, budgeting and renewals; liaise with Lloyd's.
• Media & Communication: Act as technical insurance expert, write articles and deliver presentations.
• Team Mentorship: Mentor and coach senior support staff.
