Job summary

Pty, a South African industrial group, is seeking a Senior Procurement Buyer to lead procurement and stores across three Gauteng sites. The role combines hands-on buying with supervising a small team.

You will negotiate with suppliers, drive cost reductions, manage end-to-end purchasing and oversee stock control, cycle counts and MRP processes. Engineering/manufacturing background and strong commercial acumen are preferred.

Qualifications

• Diploma or degree in procurement, supply chain management or related field.
• Minimum 8 years' procurement experience in industrial/manufacturing.
• Previous supervisory experience is essential.
• Strong hands-on buying and supplier negotiation experience.
• Proven track record of cost savings and procurement improvements.
• Experience purchasing engineering-related spares, consumables or similar items.
• Sound knowledge of stores, inventory control and MRP processes.
• Strong knowledge of ERP/MRP systems; Fraxion and/or Accpac advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Manage end-to-end procurement across three Gauteng sites.
• Procure engineering spares, chemicals, consumables, gas, oxygen and diesel.
• Negotiate pricing, terms and contracts with focus on cost reduction.
• Identify and source new suppliers to improve pricing and service.
• Monitor supplier performance against service levels.
• Drive procurement savings and cost optimisation initiatives.
• Oversee purchase orders, stock items, replenishment and daily MRP requirements.
• Expedite outstanding orders and resolve supply delays.
• Oversee stores operations, including receiving, stock control and cycle counts.
• Provide accurate procurement, stock and savings reports to management.
• Supervise and guide the procurement and stores team.
