Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a Lead Subsurface Analyst for a growing energy-sector client in Port Elizabeth, Eastern Cape. The role focuses on interpreting seismic, well logs, and core data to build robust subsurface models and guide exploration strategies.

You will lead a team, mentor analysts, and collaborate with engineers and geophysicists to ensure data quality and drive development activities in the Eastern Cape.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in Geology, Geophysics, or related Earth Science.
• Minimum 8 years in subsurface analysis in oil & gas.
• Proficient in Kingdom and Petrel seismic interpretation.
• Strong ability to integrate diverse geological datasets.
• Solid understanding of structural geology, stratigraphy, and petroleum systems.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead interpretation of geological and geophysical data (seismic, well logs, core).
• Develop and refine subsurface models to assess hydrocarbon potential & risks.
• Integrate data from various sources for comprehensive subsurface understanding.
• Collaborate with reservoir engineers, geologists, and geophysicists to support exploration & development.
• Identify and evaluate new exploration targets and opportunities.
• Prepare technical reports, presentations, and recommendations for management.
• Mentor junior subsurface analysts and contribute to team skill development.
• Stay updated with latest technologies and methodologies in subsurface analysis.
• Ensure data quality and integrity throughout the analysis process for projects in the Eastern Cape.
