Job summary

Placements24 has a client in the energy sector seeking a Lead Geoscientist specializing in Subsurface Imaging to base in Kimberley, Northern Cape. You will lead seismic interpretation, develop advanced imaging workflows, and integrate geological, geophysical and well data to build robust subsurface models.

The role requires 10–12 years of geoscientific experience, mastery of Petrel, Kingdom and OpendTect, and a proven leadership track.

Qualifications

• 10–12 years in geoscience roles with seismic interpretation focus.
• Advanced seismic processing and interpretation software expertise (Petrel, Kingdom, OpendTect).
• Strong leadership and ability to manage technical teams.
• Independent work style with collaborative skills and excellent communication.
• Familiarity with Southern Africa geology is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage geophysical interpretation projects, including seismic data acquisition, processing, and quality control.
• Develop and apply imaging techniques to delineate subsurface structures and hydrocarbon plays.
• Integrate geological, geophysical, and well data to build subsurface models.
• Oversee seismic processing workflows and vendor relationships.
• Mentor junior geoscientists and interpreters; present findings to management.
