Job summary

Merchant West in Johannesburg seeks a Transactor to originate, structure and execute profitable lending and structured finance deals for mid-market clients. You will build trusted relationships, identify funding opportunities and drive transactions to financial close.

The role covers end-to-end client lifecycle from business development through credit approval, documentation and drawdown, with ongoing portfolio management and risk controls.

Qualifications

• Originate and develop lending opportunities aligned with Merchant West's objectives.
• Maintain a sustainable pipeline through proactive business development and relationships.
• Identify, engage and convert new clients while deepening existing relationships.
• Understand clients' funding requirements and develop bespoke financing solutions.
• Market, present and articulate credit opportunities to internal stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Structure innovative financing solutions balancing client requirements with risk/return.
• Develop funding structures for institutional investors and funding partners.
• Assess alternative financing structures and recommend the best solution.
• Collaborate with Credit, Legal, Treasury and advisers to optimise structures.
• Contribute to product development and strategic initiatives as required.
