Job summary

Merchant West in Gauteng is seeking a Transactor to originate, structure and execute profitable lending and structured finance transactions for mid-market corporate clients, building trusted relationships and coordinating internal stakeholders through to financial close.

The role covers the full client lifecycle from business development to portfolio management, requiring strong credit assessment, negotiation, and robust risk management to deliver commercial returns.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics or Commerce.
• Postgraduate qualification such as CA(SA), CFA Charter, MBA or Master’s degree in Finance, Business or related field (advantageous).

Responsibilities

• Originate and develop lending opportunities aligned with Merchant West's objectives; build pipeline.
• Structure innovative financing solutions balancing client needs and risk/return.
• Coordinate end-to-end transaction process from engagement to funding and documentation.
• Conduct comprehensive credit assessments and prepare clear, supported recommendations.
• Maintain trusted client relationships and coordinate with internal stakeholders.
