Placements24 is seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer specializing in Structural Analysis in Mahikeng, North West. You will lead FEA studies, optimize designs, and mentor junior engineers to ensure high integrity of mechanical structures under diverse loading conditions.

The role requires a strong solid-mechanics foundation, extensive FEA experience, and the ability to translate complex results into practical design improvements. This is a full-time on-site position in South Africa.

Qualifications

• Advanced degree with emphasis on solid mechanics and structural analysis.
• 8+ years of professional experience in mechanical engineering with emphasis on FEA.
• Experience with ANSYS Mechanical and Abaqus for structural analysis.
• Strong grounding in continuum mechanics, elasticity, plasticity, and fracture mechanics.
• Ability to interpret simulation results and translate into actionable design recommendations.

Responsibilities

• Perform detailed structural analysis using FEA software (e.g., ANSYS, Abaqus).
• Analyze components and structures under static, dynamic, thermal, and fatigue loading.
• Interpret results, identify failure modes, and recommend design modifications.
• Develop and validate FEA models and correlate with experimental data where available.
• Collaborate with design engineers to integrate structural analysis early in design process.
• Prepare comprehensive technical reports detailing methodologies, results, and conclusions.
• Stay updated on advances in structural analysis techniques and best practices.
• Contribute to testing procedures and validation protocols for structural components.
• Mentor junior engineers in structural analysis principles and applications.
• Ensure compliance with applicable industry codes, standards, and regulatory requirements.
