Placements24 seeks a Senior Structural Engineer to lead advanced analysis and design of mechanical systems and infrastructure. This fully remote role is based out of Richards Bay, KwaZulu-Natal, and offers flexible collaboration with a global virtual team.

You will apply FEA expertise (ANSYS Mechanical, Abaqus), uphold ASME/ISO standards, and mentor junior engineers on high-stakes projects. A master’s or PhD is required with 8+ years of experience.

Qualifications

• Master's or PhD in Structural/Mechanical Engineering (or closely related field).
• 8+ years of experience in structural analysis and design, preferably in industrial/heavy engineering.
• Experience with FEA software (ANSYS Mechanical, Abaqus).
• Strong remote collaboration and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Perform structural analysis and design for mechanical systems, equipment supports, and infrastructure.
• Use FEA software to simulate stress, strain, and fatigue under various load conditions.
• Develop design calculations, specifications, and technical reports per standards.
• Collaborate with project managers, design teams, and fabrication specialists in a fully remote environment.
• Review drawings for integrity and safety and mentor junior engineers.
