Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a Senior Structural Engineer to join its fully remote team delivering projects across South Africa, including Cape Town.

You will design and analyze structural systems for residential, commercial, and industrial buildings, ensure compliance with codes, and collaborate with a distributed team using SAP2000, ETABS, Prokon and CAD.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in Structural Engineering or closely related field.
• Minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in structural engineering design.
• Professional Engineer (Pr. Eng.) registration with ECSA or eligibility for registration.
• Proficiency in structural analysis software (SAP2000, ETABS, Prokon) and CAD software.
• Experience designing with steel, concrete, timber, and masonry.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills for remote collaboration.

Responsibilities

• Perform structural analysis and design for a variety of building types, including residential, commercial, and industrial structures.
• Develop detailed structural drawings, specifications, and calculations using advanced engineering software.
• Ensure designs comply with national and international building codes, standards, and best practices.
• Collaborate with architects, project managers, and other engineering disciplines in a virtual environment.
• Conduct technical reviews of designs prepared by junior engineers and provide constructive feedback.
• Stay current with emerging trends and technologies in structural engineering and construction materials.
