Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a Senior Structural Engineer to join a remote-first engineering team. You will lead structural design and analysis for diverse civil projects, ensuring compliance with South African codes and safety standards, while collaborating with architects and engineers worldwide.

The role emphasizes independent work from a home office, mentoring juniors, and staying at the forefront of structural software and techniques. Occasional travel to project sites may be required.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in Civil Engineering with a specialization in Structural Engineering.
• 8+ years of progressive experience in structural engineering design and analysis.
• Professional Engineer (PE) license or equivalent in South Africa is desirable.
• Proficiency in structural analysis software such as ETABS, SAP2000, STAAD.Pro, or similar.

Responsibilities

• Lead the structural design and analysis of buildings, bridges, and infrastructure.
• Develop detailed engineering drawings, specifications, and reports.
• Perform complex structural calculations and simulations for safety and efficiency.
• Collaborate with architects, project managers, and engineers via virtual platforms.
• Conduct remote site analyses and provide technical guidance.
• Review and approve shop drawings and submittals to ensure design intent.
• Mentor junior engineers and foster professional development.
• Stay updated with advances in software, materials, and construction techniques.
• Ensure designs meet local codes, regulations, and client requirements.
