Placements24 is seeking a highly experienced Senior Structural Engineer to join their remote-first team. You will lead design for major infrastructure and building projects, performing advanced analyses with SAP2000/ETABS and BIM tools, and ensuring code compliance.

You will mentor junior engineers, manage project timelines and collaborate with architects and other disciplines, all within a fully remote setup that supports flexible hours and continuous professional development.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Civil or Structural Engineering.
• 8+ years of progressive experience in structural design and analysis.
• PE licensure is highly desirable.
• Proven expertise in high-rise buildings, bridges, or industrial facilities.

Responsibilities

• Lead the structural design process from concept to completion for large-scale infrastructure and buildings.
• Conduct advanced structural analysis and calculations using industry-standard software.
• Prepare detailed technical reports, drawings, and specifications in line with codes and standards.
• Collaborate with architects, PMs, and other disciplines to meet project objectives.
• Mentor and guide junior engineers and oversee construction phases.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the structural design process for large-scale infrastructure and building projects, from conceptualization to completion.
• Conduct advanced structural analysis and calculations using industry-standard software (e.g., SAP2000, ETABS, Revit Structure).
• Prepare detailed technical reports, drawings, and specifications, ensuring compliance with relevant building codes and standards.
• Collaborate closely with architects, project managers, and other engineering disciplines to achieve project objectives.
• Mentor and guide junior engineers, fostering their technical development and project management skills.
• Oversee construction phases, providing technical support and resolving site-specific engineering challenges.
• Stay abreast of the latest advancements in structural engineering materials, technologies, and design methodologies.
• Manage project timelines and budgets effectively, ensuring timely and cost-efficient project delivery.

Requirements

• A Bachelor's or Master's degree in Civil or Structural Engineering from an accredited institution.
• A minimum of 8 years of progressive experience in structural engineering design and analysis.
• Professional Engineer (PE) or equivalent licensure is highly desirable.
• Proven expertise in structural design for high-rise buildings, bridges, or industrial facilities.
• Proficiency in structural analysis software and BIM tools (e.g., Revit, AutoCAD).
• Excellent understanding of South African National Standards (SANS) and relevant international codes.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
• Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate in a remote setting.
• Demonstrated ability to lead projects and mentor junior team members.
