Placements24 is seeking an experienced Senior Structural Design Engineer for our Pretoria, Gauteng office. You will lead the structural design of major infrastructure projects, directing teams and coordinating with architects, engineers, and contractors to ensure safe, durable, and compliant outcomes.

Ideal candidates bring 8+ years in structural design, Pr Eng or eligibility, and proficiency with SAP2000/ETABS/STAAD.Pro and Revit Structure.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in Structural Engineering or Civil Engineering with a Structures specialization.
• Minimum of 8 years of professional experience in structural design for infrastructure projects.
• Pr Eng registration or eligibility in South Africa.
• Expertise in structural analysis software and CAD/BIM tools (e.g., Revit Structure).
• In-depth knowledge of material behavior (steel, concrete, timber) and construction methods.
• Strong leadership and ability to manage design teams and complex projects.

Responsibilities

• Lead the structural design of complex infrastructure projects including bridges, high-rise buildings, and transportation structures.
• Perform advanced structural analysis using SAP2000, ETABS, and STAAD.Pro to assess load-bearing capacities and dynamic responses.
• Develop detailed structural drawings, specifications, and construction documents in line with standards.
• Collaborate with architects, civil and geotechnical engineers, and construction teams throughout project lifecycle.
• Conduct site investigations, feasibility studies, and preliminary design assessments.
• Review and approve shop drawings, calculations, and material submittals from contractors.
• Mentor junior engineers and drafters to foster a high-performance design team.
• Ensure designs meet building codes, safety regulations, and environmental standards.
• Manage project timelines, budgets, and client relationships related to structural deliverables.
