Qualifications

About the Role

Our client, a rapidly expanding renewable energy company, is seeking a dynamic and experienced Senior Solar PV Project Developer to join their growing team in the scenic region of Stellenbosch, Western Cape . This crucial role will be responsible for identifying, evaluating, and securing new solar photovoltaic (PV) project opportunities, from initial site assessment through to financial close. The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of the solar energy market, project finance, regulatory landscapes, and stakeholder engagement within the Energy sector. Key Responsibilities

• Identify and assess potential sites for utility-scale and distributed solar PV projects.
• Conduct detailed feasibility studies, including resource assessment, grid interconnection analysis, and preliminary design.
• Develop and negotiate Power Purchase Agreements (PPAs) and other key project contracts.
• Manage the land acquisition and permitting processes for new solar developments.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with landowners, utilities, local authorities, and other key stakeholders.
• Prepare comprehensive project proposals, financial models, and investment memorandums.
• Collaborate with internal engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) teams to ensure project viability and alignment.
• Secure project financing through engagement with lenders, investors, and financial institutions.
• Stay abreast of market trends, policy changes, and technological advancements in the solar Energy sector.
• Contribute to the strategic planning and business development efforts of the company.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Business, Finance, or a related field.
• A minimum of 5-7 years of experience in renewable energy project development, with a strong focus on solar PV.
• Demonstrated success in originating, developing, and closing solar PV projects.
• In-depth knowledge of project finance, PPA negotiation, and contract management.
• Familiarity with solar PV technologies, grid interconnection processes, and regulatory frameworks.
• Excellent business development, negotiation, and communication skills.
• Strong financial modeling and analytical capabilities.
