Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a compassionate Social Support Counsellor for Upington, Northern Cape. You will provide individual, group, and family counseling, assess needs, and develop intervention plans to support mental and emotional well-being in the community.

The role requires a Master's degree in Psychology/Social Work, professional registration, and at least 3 years of post-qualification experience in counseling or psychotherapy.

Qualifications

• Master's degree or postgraduate qualification in Psychology, Social Work, Counseling, or related field.
• Professional registration with a relevant South African council (e.g., HPCSA, SACSSP).
• Minimum of 3 years post-qualification experience in counseling or psychotherapy.
• Proven experience in therapeutic assessment, intervention, and case management.
• Strong knowledge of counseling theories, techniques, and ethical principles.

Responsibilities

• Provide individual, group, and family counseling services.
• Assess clients' needs and develop appropriate intervention and support plans.
• Offer guidance and support to individuals dealing with mental health issues, trauma, relationship problems, and life transitions.
• Facilitate psycho-educational groups and workshops.
• Connect clients with relevant community resources and support networks.
• Maintain accurate, confidential, and up-to-date client records.
• Adhere to ethical guidelines and professional standards of conduct.
• Collaborate with other professionals and agencies to ensure comprehensive client care.
• Monitor client progress and evaluate the effectiveness of interventions.
• Advocate for clients' needs and promote their well-being.
