Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a Senior Security Operations Center (SOC) Analyst to monitor security infrastructure, detect threats, and lead rapid responses to incidents across OT and IT environments in Rustenburg, North West. You will refine detections, mentor junior analysts, and stay ahead of evolving cyber threats.

The role requires 5+ years in a SOC, strong SIEM experience (Splunk/QRadar), and proficiency in Python for automation.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience in CS/InfoSec.
• Minimum 5 years in a SOC with incident detection and response.
• Strong networking, Windows/Linux, and cyber security fundamentals.
• Hands-on with SIEM (Splunk, QRadar), EDR, and threat intel platforms.
• OT/ICS security experience is a plus.
• Proficient in Python for automation.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving and communication skills.
• GSEC / GCIH / GCIA / CEH or similar preferred.

Responsibilities

• Monitor security alerts and logs from SIEM/IDS/IPS, firewalls and endpoints to detect threats.
• Perform in-depth analysis to determine scope and impact of incidents.
• Lead incident response: containment, eradication and recovery.
• Develop detection rules and tune SIEM alerts.
• Conduct threat hunting for advanced threats.
• Analyze malware samples and attacker techniques.
• Document incidents and post-incident reports.
• Mentor junior SOC analysts and share knowledge.
