Job summary

Placements24 is recruiting a Cybersecurity Analyst to join its IT security team in Rustenburg, North West. You will monitor security alerts, investigate incidents, and strengthen the organization’s defenses within a dedicated SOC.

You should have a Bachelor's degree and 3+ years in cybersecurity, with hands-on SIEM (Splunk/QRadar) experience, firewall and VPN knowledge, and solid incident response skills. Certifications are a plus and ongoing training is encouraged.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Cybersecurity, Computer Science, IT or related field.
• 3+ years in cybersecurity operations or security roles.
• Hands-on with SIEM tools (Splunk, QRadar).
• Knowledge of networks, firewalls, VPNs and IDS/IPS.
• Experience with endpoint security and vulnerability management.
• Strong analytical and communication skills.
• Certs such as CompTIA Security+, CEH or GIAC are a plus.

Responsibilities

• Monitor security alerts and logs from SIEM, IDS/IPS, and firewalls.
• Investigate security incidents and determine root causes.
• Perform vulnerability assessments and pen testing.
• Implement and manage security controls to protect systems.
• Develop and update security policies and guidelines.
• Conduct security awareness training for employees.
• Stay updated on threats and technologies.
• Collaborate with IT to embed security best practices.
• Generate reports on security status and recommendations.
