Job summary

RPO Recruitment’s client, a Cape Town building contractor, seeks an experienced Site Manager for a large-scale project. You will oversee daily site activities, manage subcontractors and resources, and ensure work aligns with drawings and programme requirements.

Requirements: National Diploma in Building or BTech in Construction Management; 8–10 years’ site management on building projects; experience on government or institutional projects is advantageous.

Qualifications

• Minimum 8–10 years’ proven experience as a Site Manager on building construction projects.
• National Diploma in Building or BTech in Construction Management.
• Experience on large government or institutional projects advantageous.
• Solid understanding of construction sequencing, site coordination, and subcontractor management.
• Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications.
• Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work under pressure and meet strict deadlines.

Responsibilities

• Oversee daily site activities on a major building project
• Manage subcontractors, labour, and site resources effectively
• Ensure works are delivered in line with drawings, specifications, and programme requirements
• Maintain high standards of quality control and workmanship, particularly on finishing works
• Monitor site progress and implement corrective actions where required
• Ensure strict compliance with health and safety regulations
• Coordinate with project managers, engineers, and consultants
• Manage site reporting, documentation, and progress updates
