About the Role

A reputable civil engineering contractor operating in the Vereeniging, Gauteng region is seeking a highly experienced Senior Site Engineer to lead the on-site execution of major road and civil infrastructure projects. This demanding role requires a professional with a deep understanding of civil engineering principles, construction methodologies, and site management. The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing daily operations, ensuring quality control, managing site teams, and maintaining strict safety standards. You will play a pivotal role in delivering complex infrastructure projects that enhance regional connectivity and development. This position is crucial for ensuring the efficient and successful implementation of our client's key projects in Gauteng .

Key Responsibilities

Oversee and manage all on-site construction activities for road and civil infrastructure projects. Ensure construction work is executed according to engineering designs, specifications, and quality standards. Supervise and direct site engineers, foremen, and labour teams. Implement and enforce stringent health and safety protocols on site. Manage site logistics, including plant, equipment, and material procurement and allocation. Conduct regular quality checks and inspections, rectifying any non-conformances promptly. Monitor project progress against schedule, identifying potential delays and implementing corrective actions. Liaise effectively with project managers, clients, consultants, and subcontractors. Maintain accurate site records, including daily diaries, progress reports, and safety incident logs. Ensure efficient resource utilization and cost control on site. Contribute to problem-solving and technical decision-making on site.

Requirements

A Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or a related field. Professional Engineer (PrEng) or Professional Construction Manager (PrCM) registration with ECSA/SACP is highly preferred. A minimum of 7 years of relevant site engineering experience, with a strong focus on road construction and civil infrastructure projects. Proven experience in managing large civil engineering sites and multidisciplinary teams. In-depth knowledge of road construction techniques, earthworks, drainage, and surfacing. Familiarity with relevant South African construction standards and legislation (e.g., OHS Act). Proficiency in reading and interpreting construction drawings and specifications. Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving abilities. Ability to manage multiple priorities and work effectively under pressure.
