About the Role

Our client, a leader in advanced manufacturing and processing, is seeking a highly skilled Senior Sanitation Engineer for their facility in Upington, Northern Cape . This role is critical for designing, implementing, and optimizing sanitation systems and processes to ensure the highest standards of hygiene and product safety. The ideal candidate will possess a strong engineering background combined with in-depth knowledge of sanitation principles, regulatory compliance, and best practices within a manufacturing environment. You will play a key role in maintaining operational integrity, driving efficiency, and ensuring the safety and quality of the products manufactured.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and implement state-of-the-art sanitation systems and equipment for manufacturing processes.
• Develop and refine Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for cleaning, sanitization, and hygiene.
• Oversee the validation and verification of sanitation processes to ensure effectiveness and compliance.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams (e.g., Quality Assurance, Production, Maintenance) to address sanitation challenges.
• Ensure compliance with all relevant national and international food safety and environmental regulations.
• Troubleshoot and resolve complex sanitation-related issues within the manufacturing environment.Lead training initiatives for staff on sanitation best practices and the proper use of equipment and chemicals.

Requirements

• A Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Food Science, or a related technical field.
• A minimum of 6 years of experience in sanitation engineering, process design, or a related role within the manufacturing sector.
• Proven experience in designing and implementing CIP (Clean-In-Place) and COP (Clean-Out-of-Place) systems.
• In-depth knowledge of food safety standards (e.g., HACCP, GMP) and regulatory requirements.
• Strong understanding of microbiology, chemistry, and engineering principles related to sanitation.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and project management skills.
• Proficiency in CAD software and other relevant engineering tools is a plus.
• Strong leadership and communication skills, with the ability to influence stakeholders.
• Experience in process optimization and continuous improvement methodologies.
