Placements24 is seeking a seasoned Sanitation Operations Manager for a major manufacturing client in Rustenburg, North West. This pivotal role requires strong leadership to design, implement, and monitor sanitation programs, oversee a team of sanitation professionals, and ensure compliance with HACCP, GMP, OSHA and related health and safety standards.

Ideal candidates hold a Bachelor’s degree in Food Science, Microbiology, Chemical Engineering or related discipline, with 5+ years in sanitation

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field (Food Science, Microbiology, Chemical Engineering or related).
• 5+ years sanitation management experience in manufacturing (food & beverage, pharma, etc.).
• Proven ability to develop and implement sanitation programs and SOPs.
• Strong knowledge of HACCP, GMP, OSHA and regulatory standards.
• Excellent leadership, communication, and budgeting skills.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop, implement, and oversee comprehensive sanitation programs for manufacturing facilities, ensuring alignment with industry best practices and regulatory requirements.
• Lead, train, and manage the sanitation team, setting performance standards and fostering a culture of safety and excellence.
• Manage the budget for sanitation operations, including labor, chemicals, equipment, and supplies.
• Ensure the effective and safe use of cleaning chemicals, equipment, and machinery, overseeing maintenance and calibration.
• Conduct regular audits and inspections of production areas, equipment, and hygiene practices to ensure compliance and identify areas for improvement.
• Implement and monitor pest control programs.
• Collaborate closely with Production, Quality Assurance, and Engineering departments to address sanitation-related issues and support operational goals.
• Maintain accurate documentation and records related to sanitation activities, training, and compliance.
• Stay up-to-date with industry regulations, new technologies, and best practices in industrial sanitation.
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance sanitation effectiveness, efficiency, and sustainability.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in a relevant field such as Food Science, Microbiology, Chemical Engineering, or a related discipline.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in sanitation management within the manufacturing industry (e.g., food & beverage, pharmaceuticals, automotive).
• Proven experience in developing and implementing successful sanitation programs and SOPs.
• Strong knowledge of HACCP, GMP, OSHA, and other relevant regulatory standards.
• Excellent leadership, team management, and communication skills.
• Proficiency in budget management and resource allocation.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
• Ability to work effectively under pressure in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
• Proficiency in relevant software for record-keeping and reporting.
• Must be able to work on-site in Rustenburg, North West.
