Job summary

The-Recruiter is seeking an experienced Safety Officer to oversee health and safety compliance across electrical construction projects in Cape Town. You will ensure safe work practices and maintain meticulous safety records on-site.

The ideal candidate holds SACPCMP registration, a relevant H&S qualification, and extensive experience in construction safety. A strong understanding of OHS Act and risk assessments is essential for this role.

Qualifications

• SACPCMP registration as Safety Officer is essential.
• Relevant Health & Safety qualification required.
• Minimum 35 years of construction health and safety experience.
• Experience in electrical contracting/electrical construction advantageous.
• Strong knowledge of OHS Act, Construction Regulations and related laws.
• Experience conducting site inspections, audits and risk assessments.
• Ability to compile and maintain Health & Safety files.
• Incident investigation and reporting experience.
• Strong understanding of HIRA, Method Statements and SWPs.
• Good communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work independently with site teams, management and clients.
• Valid driver's licence and own transport.

Responsibilities

• Implement and monitor health & safety policies and procedures.
• Conduct regular site inspections and safety audits.
• Ensure compliance with statutory and client safety requirements.
• Maintain comprehensive Health & Safety files.
• Conduct risk assessments and monitor corrective actions.
• Facilitate toolbox talks and safety meetings.
• Investigate incidents and recommend preventative measures.
• Monitor subcontractor and employee safety compliance.
• Provide safety guidance to project and site management.
• Keep documentation current and compliant.
