Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Civil Engineering.
• Professional Engineer (Pr Eng) registration with ECSA is mandatory.
• 8–10 years of experience in roads and stormwater with leadership.
• Proficiency in Civil 3D, AutoCAD, HEC-RAS, and InfoWorks ICM.
• Knowledge of South African road design standards and regulatory requirements.

Responsibilities

• Lead design and development of road infrastructure, including geometric design and traffic management solutions.

• Prepare drawings, calculations, reports, and tender documentation.

About the Role

Our client, a highly respected civil engineering consultancy operating in the Klerksdorp region, is actively seeking to recruit a seasoned Senior Roads and Stormwater Engineer. This role is integral to the successful delivery of a wide array of urban development and infrastructure projects throughout the North West province. The ideal candidate will possess a proven track record in the design, planning, and project management of road networks, intersections, and comprehensive stormwater management systems. You will be expected to lead technical aspects of projects, mentor junior staff, and engage with clients and authorities to ensure projects meet high standards of quality, safety, and sustainability. Key Responsibilities

• Lead the design and development of road infrastructure, including geometric design, pavement design, and traffic management solutions.
• Design and analyze complex stormwater management systems, including culverts, bridges, channels, and detention/retention facilities.
• Prepare detailed engineering drawings, calculations, reports, and tender documentation.
• Manage project lifecycles from conception through to construction supervision and handover.
• Ensure compliance with relevant South African road design manuals (e.g., CSRA) and SANS standards.
• Conduct site investigations, surveys, and assessments to inform design decisions.
• Liaise with clients, municipal authorities, and other stakeholders throughout project lifecycles.
• Oversee and mentor junior engineers and technicians, fostering their technical growth.
• Contribute to the development of project proposals and business development efforts.
• Ensure the implementation of sustainable drainage systems (SuDS) where appropriate.

Requirements

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Civil Engineering.
• Professional Engineer (Pr Eng) registration with ECSA is mandatory.
• A minimum of 8-10 years of experience in roads and stormwater engineering, with significant project leadership experience.
• Demonstrated proficiency in using specialized software for road and drainage design (e.g., Civil 3D, AutoCAD, HEC-RAS, InfoWorks ICM).
• Strong understanding of pavement materials, construction techniques, and traffic engineering principles.
• Thorough knowledge of relevant South African design standards and regulatory requirements.
• Excellent project management, leadership, and communication skills.
• Ability to manage client relationships and negotiate effectively.
• Experience working on projects in the Klerksdorp and surrounding North West areas is advantageous.
