About the Role

Our client, a leading multidisciplinary engineering firm with a strong presence in infrastructure development, is looking for a Senior Civil Engineer with expertise in Roads and Stormwater design to join their esteemed team in Bloemfontein . This role is integral to the planning, design, and project management of significant public and private infrastructure projects across the Free State province. The ideal candidate will possess extensive experience in geometric road design, drainage analysis, and the application of relevant South African standards and software. You will be expected to lead design teams, mentor junior engineers, and collaborate effectively with clients and stakeholders.

This Hybrid position combines essential on-site project engagement with flexible remote work arrangements, offering a dynamic professional experience in the heart of the Free State capital.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the design of road infrastructure, including horizontal and vertical alignment, intersection design, and pavement design.
• Undertake comprehensive stormwater management design, including hydraulic calculations for culverts, channels, and detention systems.
• Prepare detailed design reports, technical specifications, and construction drawings for road and stormwater projects.
• Ensure designs comply with relevant South African legislation, municipal standards, and industry best practices.
• Manage project timelines and budgets, ensuring efficient resource allocation and cost-effective solutions.
• Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers and technicians within the design team.
• Liaise effectively with clients, government authorities, and other stakeholders throughout the project lifecycle.
• Conduct site visits for design verification and to provide support during the construction phase.

Requirements

• A Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering from a recognized institution.
• Professional registration with ECSA (Engineering Council of South Africa) as a Professional Engineer (Pr Eng).
• A minimum of 8 years of progressive experience in civil engineering, with a strong focus on road and stormwater design.
• Proficiency in relevant design software such as AutoCAD Civil 3D, CivilDesigner, or similar.
• Thorough understanding of geometric design principles, hydrology, and hydraulic modelling.
• Experience with project management and contract administration.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
