Placements24 is seeking a Senior Civil Engineer with a strong Transportation Engineering background for a fully remote role. You will lead design, analysis, and delivery of complex transportation projects across roads and public transit, collaborating with a dispersed team to optimize solutions.

You will mentor junior engineers, oversee schedules and budgets, and ensure compliance with South African design standards.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Civil Engineering with a Transportation focus.
• A minimum of 7 years' progressive experience in transportation engineering design and project management.
• Pr Eng registration with ECSA is preferred.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the design and analysis of transportation infrastructure projects, including highways, roads, bridges, and intersections.

• Oversee the work of junior engineers and technicians, providing technical guidance and mentorship.

• Ensure designs comply with relevant South African road design standards (e.g., CSIR guidelines) and other applicable regulations.
• Conduct site investigations and feasibility studies for new transportation projects.
• Manage project schedules, budgets, and resource allocation for transportation engineering tasks.
• Liaise with clients, government authorities, and stakeholders to address project requirements and concerns.
• Stay current with advancements in transportation engineering, intelligent transportation systems (ITS), and sustainable transport practices.

Requirements

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Civil Engineering with a specialization in Transportation Engineering.
• A minimum of 7 years of progressive experience in transportation engineering design and project management.
• Professional Engineer (Pr Eng) registration with ECSA is preferred.
• Proficiency in transportation design software such as Civil 3D, MXRoads, AutoCAD, and traffic simulation software (e.g., VISSIM, SIDRA INTERSECTION).
• Strong understanding of traffic engineering principles, geometric design, and pavement design.
• Demonstrated ability to manage projects, timelines, and client expectations.
• Excellent communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills, adapted for remote collaboration.
• Experience in preparing technical reports and presentations.
• Self-directed and capable of working independently in a remote environment.
