Placements24 is seeking a Senior Road Design Engineer for a fully remote role, supporting projects across Limpopo and beyond. You will lead highway and urban road geometric design, pavement design, and traffic analyses, while coordinating with dispersed teams to deliver high-quality infrastructure. The ideal candidate holds a Civil Engineering degree (Pr.

Eng. in SA preferred), 8+ years of experience, and proficiency in Civil 3D, MXRoads, and AutoCAD.

• Professional Engineer (Pr. Eng.) registration with ECSA is required (SA)
• 8+ years of progressive road/highway design experience
• Proficiency in Civil 3D, MXRoads, AutoCAD
• Strong knowledge of SA road design standards and specs
• Experience leading design teams and remote collaboration
• Excellent communication and problem-solving abilities

• Conduct traffic studies, capacity analysis, and develop traffic management plans.
• Prepare detailed design reports, drawings, specifications, and contract documents.
• Utilize advanced road design software such as Civil 3D, AutoCAD, MXRoads, or similar.
• Coordinate with other disciplines, including structural, environmental, and geotechnical engineers, in a remote setting.
• Manage project timelines, budgets, and resources for road design components.
• Mentor and guide junior engineers and technicians, fostering their technical development.
• Liaise with clients, government authorities, and stakeholders to ensure project objectives are met.
• Review design calculations and deliverables for accuracy, quality, and compliance.
• Stay current with industry best practices, emerging technologies, and new design standards in transportation engineering.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, with a specialization in Transportation Engineering.
• Master's degree is a plus.
• Professional Engineer (Pr. Eng.) registration with ECSA is required.
• A minimum of 8 years of progressive experience in road and highway design.
• Demonstrated expertise in geometric design, pavement engineering, and traffic analysis.
• Proficiency in industry-standard road design software (e.g., Autodesk Civil 3D, MXRoads, AutoCAD).
• Thorough knowledge of South African road design standards and specifications.
• Experience in managing transportation projects and leading design teams.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills for effective remote collaboration.
