Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a Senior Road Design Engineer to join a respected civil engineering consultancy in Bloemfontein. You will lead road design, traffic management planning and geometric layouts for projects ranging from urban streets to rural highways.

The role requires a Master's in Civil Engineering (transport/road) with Pr Eng registration and at least 7 years in road design. You will mentor junior staff and coordinate with authorities.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in Civil Engineering with a transportation/road focus.
• Pr Eng registration with ECSA is mandatory.
• Minimum 7 years' road design experience with project management.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD Civil 3D or similar software.
• Strong knowledge of SA road standards and authorities.
• Excellent analytical, communication and leadership skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead the design of road infrastructure projects (geometric, pavement, drainage).
• Conduct site investigations, traffic studies and feasibility assessments.
• Prepare detailed design drawings, specs and tender docs.
• Use CAD software and road design tools for deliverables.
• Ensure designs comply with SA road design standards and legislation.
• Manage timelines, budgets and resources.
• Collaborate with clients, authorities and stakeholders.
• Provide guidance and mentorship to junior engineers and technicians.
• Review and approve design calculations and construction drawings.
