About the Role
Our client, a global leader in energy exploration and production, is seeking a highly experienced Senior Reservoir Engineer to join their remote operations team. This role is specifically focused on managing and optimizing offshore oil and gas reservoirs, contributing to the company's strategic production goals. The ideal candidate will possess deep expertise in reservoir characterization, simulation, and production forecasting, with a proven ability to drive value from complex geological assets. As a fully remote position, this opportunity offers unparalleled flexibility while requiring a disciplined and results-oriented approach. You will be integral to maximizing the recovery of hydrocarbons from challenging offshore environments, leveraging advanced analytical tools and collaborative technologies.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and execute reservoir management plans to optimize production and maximize economic recovery from offshore assets.
- Perform detailed reservoir characterization using geological, geophysical, and petrophysical data.
- Build, calibrate, and run reservoir simulation models (e.g., ECLIPSE, PETREL RE) to forecast performance and evaluate development scenarios.
- Analyze production data, well performance, and decline curves to identify opportunities for enhanced oil recovery (EOR) and production optimization.
- Conduct economic evaluations of development and infill drilling opportunities, including risk and uncertainty analysis.
- Collaborate effectively with geoscientists, production engineers, and management teams through virtual communication channels.
- Prepare technical reports, presentations, and recommendations for management and joint venture partners.
- Mentor junior engineers and contribute to the continuous improvement of reservoir engineering practices within the organization.
- Stay updated on the latest advancements in reservoir engineering technologies and methodologies.
Requirements
- Master's degree or Ph.D. in Petroleum Engineering, Geosciences, or a related field.
- A minimum of 10 years of relevant experience in reservoir engineering, with a significant focus on offshore oil and gas operations.
- Extensive experience with reservoir simulation software (e.g., ECLIPSE, Tempest, INTERSECT) and uncertainty analysis techniques.
- Proficiency in geological and petrophysical interpretation tools (e.g., Petrel, GeoGraphix).
- Strong understanding of fluid flow in porous media, reservoir physics, and EOR methods.
- Proven ability to perform complex economic evaluations and risk assessments.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and data interpretation skills.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and collaboratively in a remote team setting.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to present technical information clearly.
- Experience in the South African offshore basin or similar complex environments is an advantage.
