The ideal candidate will have 8+ years in process safety in chemical/manufacturing sectors, strong PHA/LOPA knowledge, and hands-on experience with PSI management and regulatory compliance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering or related safety field.
• 8+ years in process safety engineering in chemical/manufacturing.

About the Role

Our client is seeking a highly experienced Senior Remote Process Safety Engineer to champion safety initiatives across their operations, with a particular focus on supporting sites near Paarl . Operating entirely remotely, you will be responsible for developing, implementing, and overseeing robust process safety management systems. Your expertise will be crucial in identifying potential hazards, conducting risk assessments, and ensuring compliance with all relevant safety regulations. This role is ideal for a seasoned safety professional who excels at remote collaboration and can effectively influence safety culture and practices across geographically dispersed teams.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and implement comprehensive Process Safety Management (PSM) programs and protocols.
• Conduct thorough Process Hazard Analyses (PHAs), HAZOP studies, and risk assessments.
• Develop and review safety-critical procedures, including management of change (MOC) and pre-startup safety reviews (PSSRs).
• Investigate process safety incidents and near misses, determining root causes and implementing corrective actions.
• Provide technical guidance and training on process safety best practices to engineering and operational teams.
• Ensure compliance with relevant national and international safety standards and regulations.

Requirements
