Job summary

Tronox is seeking a Senior Reliability Engineer - Mechanical to lead maintenance strategy at Fairbreeze Mine. You will drive reliability, asset care, and life-cycle costing to optimize plant availability and costs.

The role requires 5–10 years of relevant experience, a mechanical engineering degree, and a strong ability to analyze failures and implement improvements. GCC certification is advantageous, and the position is based on site at Fairbreeze Mine.

Qualifications

• BTech/BSC/BEng in Mechanical Engineering is required.
• Driver’s License is mandatory.
• GCC Mines and Works is advantageous.
• 5-10 years post-degree experience in reliability engineering and asset management is mandatory.

Responsibilities

• Approve and assist with installation steps of mechanical equipment to comply with regulatory requirements.
• Analyze and solve large or repetitive problems and provide recommendations.
• Monitor and benchmark failure trends on key assets.
• Identify and mitigate asset-related risks.
• Quantify the value of improvements and build a business case.
• Review condition monitoring results and trends.
• Use life cycle costing (LCC) to select cost-effective assets; decide repair/replace.
• Monitor spares stockholding and investigate warranty claims.

About the Role

Job Responsibilities (Outputs)

• Approve and assist with specifying the installation steps of Mechanical equipment to comply with regulatory requirements.
• Specialize in analyzing and / or systematic problem solving on large or repetitive problems and come up with recommendations.
• Monitor and benchmark failure trends on key assets.
• Identify and mitigate asset-related risks
• Quantify the value of improvements and compile a business case for it.
• Review condition monitoring results and trends.
• Use Equipment Life cycle costing (LCC) to select the most cost-effective assets.
• Recommend repair / Replace decisions using LCC analysis.
• Analyze and recommend optimal spares stockholding.
• Track and investigate warranty claims.

Specialized support

• Track and monitor equipment performance.
• Conduct equipment failure analysis (Root Cause Failure Analysis).
• Develop and maintain equipment maintenance strategies by applying Reliability centered Maintenance principles / methodology.
• Conduct high level mechanical problem solving.
• Specify the RAMS of a new asset to be acquired.
• Facilitate the process to optimize maintenance tactics.
• Support the Mechanical maintenance processes.
• Support on input relating to day-to-day maintenance activities and maintenance KPI’s.

SHERQ and Compliance

• Develop, maintain and improve safe operational- and engineering standards and continuously review specifications and schedules.
• Ensure equipment integrity is maintained according to safety standards (MHSA)
• Maintain SHEQ standards (ISO 14000; 9000 and 4500 systems).
• Conduct timeous investigation of incidents and ensure adequate remedial action is implemented.
• Execute and drive safety programs.
• Ensure effective risk management by identifying hazardous activities and mitigation measures on a continuous basis.

Customer Relationships

• Manage internal and external relations, including the interface with external providers or other functions responsible to ensure that the business needs are met.
• Represent Tronox at applicable forums.
• Provide relevant and specialized support to applicable stakeholders.

Process Efficiency

• Assume responsibility for meeting production targets.
• Ensure the optimal use of available resources, both people and equipment.
• Assume responsibility for the quality of work conducted within the functional area.
• Conduct troubleshooting in order to identify root cause for substandard on equipment and maintenance processes.
• Complete, process and update all records and related documentation.

Best practice and Continuous Improvement

• Ensure business systems are maintained and optimized by conducting continuous research.
• Implement continuous improvement initiatives, projects, and processes toward ensuring focused business growth and alignment with international standards / practices.

About You

Qualifications

• BTech/BSC/BEng in Mechanical Engineering
• Driver’s License (Mandatory)
• GCC Mines and works (Advantageous)

Experience

• 5-10 years post BTech/BSC/BEng experience in reliability engineering and asset management (Mandatory)
• High level of Computer skills (Mandatory)

Recommended

• Good Knowledge of mining and concentrating plant equipment.
• Knowledgeable on Condition monitoring techniques (Proactive Defect elimination).
• Good knowledge on Technical Maintenance techniques, principles and strategies.
• Effective on Reliability centered Maintenance processes (RCM) and principles.
• Root cause failure analysis techniques (Reactive Defect Elimination).
• Good knowledge of Project Management.
