Job summary

Astron Energy South Africa (Pty) Ltd in Cape Town is seeking a Refinery Operations Engineer to ensure the refinery runs per the approved plan while maintaining safety and reliability. You will work with White/Black Oil Optimisation Engineers and the EVCO team to validate short- and medium-term opportunities that add value.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in chemical, process or mechanical engineering.
• 7+ years of refinery operations/process engineering experience.
• Experience with refinery optimisation and production teams.
• Familiarity with start-up, shutdown and upset conditions and their impact on safety, reliability and performance.

Responsibilities

• Lead refinery constraints to planning for optimised plans.
• Collaborate with Process Engineers to remove or mitigate constraints.
• Ensure refinery production plan is feasible with Planning team.
• Drive production plan execution with operators to hit targets in real time.
• Provide feedback to EVCO Optimisation Engineers for replanning decisions.
• Develop and maintain refinery optimisation KPIs and dashboards.
• Support turnaround planning and capital efficiency initiatives.
