Job summary

RPO Recruitment's client in Johannesburg seeks a skilled Quantity Surveyor to take full commercial responsibility for a portfolio of high-value projects, from residential to commercial and industrial builds.

The role focuses on budgets, cost reporting, procurement, contract administration, and stakeholder liaison, with CCS Candy expertise and a proven track record on R50m+ projects. You will lead subcontractor negotiations and mentor junior staff.

Qualifications

• Degree in Quantity Surveying (BSc/BSc Hons) required.
• Minimum 5 years’ experience with a contractor.
• Proven track record on large-scale construction projects (R50m+).
• Strong knowledge of JBCC contracts and commercial management.
• Experience in residential, commercial, and industrial sectors.
• Background in subcontractor procurement, claims, and cost reporting.
• Strong commercial and financial acumen with contractual awareness.
• Ability to engage with senior stakeholders; excellent negotiation and problem-solving skills.
• Proficient in CCS Candy software.
• Valid driver’s licence.

Responsibilities

• Manage project budgets, cost control, cash flow forecasts, and monthly financial reporting.
• Prepare cost-to-complete reports and provide commercial updates to senior management.
• Lead subcontractor procurement, tendering, adjudication, and contract negotiations.
• Oversee subcontractor performance, payments, retention, and cost recovery.
• Manage variations, claims, EOTs, and full contract administration.
• Maintain accurate commercial records and protect contractual position throughout projects.
• Align site progress with financial reporting and accounting systems.
• Review measurements, claims, and payment documentation.
• Provide guidance and oversight to junior Quantity Surveyors.
