Job summary

Placements24 is seeking an accomplished Senior Quantity Surveyor to manage project costs and financial aspects of construction projects in Welkom. You will oversee cost estimation, contract administration, and variations while ensuring financial targets are met across multiple sites in the Free State.

The role requires a Bachelor's degree in Quantity Surveying or Construction Economics and a minimum of 7 years of quantity surveying experience with strong cost-management capabilities.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Quantity Surveying or Construction Economics.
• Minimum of 7 years of experience as a Quantity Surveyor with a strong focus on cost management.
• Understanding of South African construction contracts (JBCC, FIDIC).
• Proficiency in estimating software and cost management tools.
• Excellent analytical, negotiation, and financial acumen.
• Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and work under pressure.

Responsibilities

• Prepare detailed cost estimates and bills of quantities for tender submissions and project budgets.
• Administer construction contracts, ensuring compliance with terms and conditions, and managing contractual notices.
• Monitor and control project costs throughout the construction lifecycle, forecasting final costs and identifying potential overruns.
• Manage variations, claims, and disputes, negotiating settlements and ensuring fair resolution.
• Valuation of work-in-progress and preparation of interim payment certificates for contractors and subcontractors.
• Liaise with clients, consultants, and contractors on all financial and contractual matters related to the project.
