Job summary

Placements24 in Welkom is seeking a meticulous Quantity Surveyor to manage all costs for building and civil engineering projects, from initial estimates to final accounts. You will ensure projects stay within budget while upholding high quality, advise on contracts and procurement, and maintain strong relationships with contractors and stakeholders.

The ideal candidate has 6+ years of QS experience, deep knowledge of construction economics and contract law, and proficiency in cost estimating

Qualifications

• Degree in Quantity Surveying or Construction Economics.
• Minimum of 6 years of experience as a Quantity Surveyor in the construction industry.
• Strong knowledge of construction methods, materials, and pricing.
• Proficiency in cost estimating software and MS Excel.
• Understanding of contract law and FIDIC or NEC conditions.
• Excellent negotiation and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Prepare detailed cost estimates, budgets, and feasibility studies for construction projects.
• Manage and control project costs throughout the project lifecycle.
• Administer construction contracts, including variations, claims, and final accounts.
• Procure and manage subcontractors and suppliers, ensuring competitive pricing.
• Conduct site visits to monitor progress and identify potential cost variations.
• Prepare financial reports and forecasts for project stakeholders.
