Job summary

RPO Recruitment's client, a leading civil construction contractor in Cape Town, seeks an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor to oversee the commercial and contractual aspects of civil projects.

You will manage project commercial requirements, prepare measurements, BOQs and payment certificates, monitor budgets and costs, handle variations and final accounts, and provide commercial support to Contract Managers and site teams.

Qualifications

• National Diploma in Building, BTech in Quantity Surveying or related qualifications
• 5–8 years’ experience within the civil construction industry
• Proven experience in commercial and contract management
• Strong knowledge of measurements, valuations, variations, claims and final accounts
• Sound understanding of construction contracts and contract administration
• Experience in roads, earthworks, pipelines, bulk water, reservoirs, stormwater or municipal infrastructure will be advantageous
• SACQSP registration advantageous
• Excellent Excel and general computer skills
• Ability to interpret engineering drawings, specifications and BOQs
• Valid driver’s licence

Responsibilities

• Manage project commercial and contractual requirements
• Prepare measurements, BOQs, valuations and payment certificates
• Monitor budgets, expenditure and overall project costs
• Manage variations, claims and extension-of-time submissions
• Assess subcontractor measurements, valuations and payment claims
• Prepare commercial reports and maintain accurate project records
• Assist with tender pricing and cost estimates
• Manage client and subcontractor final accounts
• Identify commercial risks and implement appropriate cost-control measures
• Provide commercial support to Contract Managers and site teams
• Liaise with clients, consultants, engineers and subcontractors on commercial matters
