Job summary

Placements24 in Durban seeks an experienced Quantity Surveyor to lead cost management on major commercial construction projects. You will estimate costs, monitor expenditures, administer contracts, and provide financial reporting throughout the project lifecycle.

The ideal candidate has a degree or diploma in Quantity Surveying, SACQSP registration preferred, 6+ years on commercial schemes, and strong skills in JBCC/FIDIC contracts, cost estimating software, and MS Office.

Qualifications

• Degree or diploma in Quantity Surveying or a related field.
• Professional registration with SACQSP preferred.
• Minimum of 6 years of experience as a Quantity Surveyor on commercial projects.
• Strong knowledge of JBCC and FIDIC contracts.
• Excellent analytical, negotiation and interpersonal skills.
• Proficiency in cost estimating software and MS Office Suite.

Responsibilities

• Prepare accurate cost estimates, bills of quantities and tender documents for commercial construction projects.
• Monitor project expenditures, manage variations, and control costs throughout the project lifecycle.
• Administer construction contracts, ensuring compliance with terms and conditions.
• Value progress payments and manage claims from contractors and suppliers.
• Conduct feasibility studies and provide cost advice on project viability.
• Negotiate with contractors and suppliers to achieve cost-effective solutions.
