Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Prepare user stories for test execution and ensure they meet Definition of Ready and Definition of Done.
• Execute functional, integration, regression, and exploratory testing as required.
• Ensure user stories are sufficiently covered by tests and aligned to business value.
• Report on user stories that are ready for release and highlight quality risks.
• Participate in Three Amigos sessions to refine user stories and ensure shared understanding.
• Collaborate with Automation Engineers to identify automation candidates.
• Write clear, maintainable Gherkin test scripts using Specification by Example.
• Maintain test documentation in Jira, Confluence, and X-Ray for Jira.

Capital International is looking for a Senior Quality Engineer who will be responsible for analysing user stories, designing and executing test scenarios, validating AI‑generated test artefacts, and ensuring comprehensive test coverage within an Agile SDLC. The role requires strong analytical thinking, proficiency in Gherkin and Specification by Example, and the ability to leverage GenAI tools to accelerate and enhance quality processes. The Quality Engineer works closely with Product Owners, Developers, Automation Engineers, and QA peers to uphold quality standards and continuously improve testing practices.

You will ensure that software products delivered by the Agile team meet the highest standards of quality, reliability, and user value. This role blends traditional test analysis with modern Agile quality practices, GenAI‑assisted test design, and close collaboration across cross‑functional teams to ensure that user stories are well‑defined, testable, and ready for release.

Core Quality Engineering Responsibilities

• Analyse user stories and requirements to design test scenarios, acceptance criteria, and test sets.
• Prepare user stories for test execution and ensure they meet the Definition of Ready and Definition of Done.
• Execute functional, integration, regression, and exploratory testing as required.
• Ensure user stories are sufficiently covered by tests and aligned to business value.
• Report on user stories that are ready for release and highlight quality risks.

Agile‑Specific Responsibilities

• Participate in Three Amigos sessions to refine user stories and ensure shared understanding.
• Actively contribute to Agile ceremonies including daily stand‑ups, sprint planning, reviews, and retrospectives.
• Collaborate closely with Automation Engineers to identify and prioritise automation candidates.
• Liaise regularly with QA peers to align on standards, practices, and quality improvements.
• Utilise GenAI methodologies to analyse requirements and derive test scenarios and acceptance criteria.
• Validate and refine AI‑generated test artefacts, including scenarios and Gherkin scripts.
• Apply prompt‑engineering techniques to improve the quality and accuracy of AI‑assisted outputs.
• Write clear, maintainable Gherkin test scripts using Specification by Example.
• Maintain test documentation in Jira, Confluence, and X‑Ray for Jira.
• Ensure traceability between requirements, test cases, and defects.
• Identify opportunities to enhance testing processes, tools, and team practices.
• Contribute to the evolution of quality standards within the QA chapter.
• Promote a culture of quality and proactive risk management within the Agile team.

Knowledge and Skills – Technical & Tooling

• Strong working knowledge of Jira and Confluence.
• Proficiency with X‑Ray (or equivalent) for Jira for test management.
• Experience writing Gherkin scripts and applying Specification by Example.
• Familiarity with GenAI tools and prompt engineering techniques.

• Ability to estimate testing effort within Agile planning cycles.
• Solid understanding of Agile methodologies and iterative delivery.
• Ability to validate and refine AI‑generated test artefacts.

Education and Experience

• Degree or diploma in Information Technology or a related field (preferred).
• ISTQB Foundation Certification in Software Testing or equivalent.
• Minimum of 3 years’ experience as a QA/Test Analyst or Quality Engineer in a FinTech or investment organisation.
• Experience working in Agile teams and participating in Agile ceremonies.
• Exposure to GenAI, prompt engineering, or a strong interest in developing these skills.
• Experience with Gherkin scripting and Specification by Example.
