Job summary

Games Global is seeking a Senior Software Quality Engineer in Durban or Cape Town to strengthen our quality engineering team. You will design and implement automated and manual test strategies, ensuring reliable, scalable, and secure software delivery across multiple projects.

You will work closely with developers, product owners, and other QA professionals to define testing approaches, create comprehensive test artifacts, and drive continuous improvement through automation and best practices.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of Software Testing or Quality Engineering experience within enterprise application environments.
  • Degree or qualification in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field.
  • Strong understanding of the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) and QA methodologies.
  • Experience with manual and automated testing practices.
  • Hands-on experience creating and maintaining automated test frameworks and scripts.
  • Exposure to functional, integration, system, regression, performance, and user acceptance testing.
  • Strong defect management, troubleshooting, and root cause analysis skills.
  • Experience working within Agile delivery teams and sprint-based development environments.
  • Ability to analyse requirements and create comprehensive test coverage.
  • Strong problem-solving, analytical, and critical-thinking skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to effectively manage priorities and work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong stakeholder engagement and collaboration skills.

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, maintain, and execute automated and manual test solutions across multiple projects.
  • Create and maintain test plans, test cases, test scripts, and testing documentation.
  • Participate in requirements analysis, solution design discussions, and sprint planning activities.
  • Execute functional, integration, system, regression, acceptance, and non-functional testing.
  • Identify, log, track, and manage defects throughout their lifecycle.
  • Perform root cause analysis and collaborate with development teams to resolve issues.
  • Support quality assurance processes and continuously improve testing methodologies and standards.
  • Prepare and manage test environments, test data, and deployment validation activities.
  • Conduct performance, load, and scalability testing and provide recommendations for optimisation.
  • Monitor test execution, analyse results, and provide clear reporting to stakeholders.
  • Drive risk-based testing approaches to ensure critical business functionality is fully validated.
  • Support release management, deployment verification, and production validation activities.
  • Work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure effective delivery and quality outcomes.
  • Provide mentorship, guidance, and knowledge sharing to junior team members.
  • Contribute to process improvement initiatives, automation adoption, and testing best practices.
