Job description

A leading engineering and manufacturing organisation is seeking an experienced QC Manager to lead its Quality Control function across manufacturing, fabrication, assembly and project execution activities.
The successful candidate will be responsible for developing and maintaining robust quality control systems, ensuring compliance with customer specifications and international standards, and driving a culture of quality, accountability and continuous improvement.
This is a senior quality leadership role suited to a technically strong professional with extensive experience in fabrication, welding inspection, NDT, pressure equipment and manufacturing quality control.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Quality Management
  • Develop, implement and continuously improve quality control procedures and inspection processes.
  • Ensure compliance with the company's Quality Management System (QMS).
  • Maintain quality procedures, inspection records, documentation and reports.
  • Drive continual improvement initiatives across manufacturing and project execution.
Inspection & Testing
  • Oversee incoming, in-process and final inspections.
  • Ensure inspections and testing are performed in accordance with approved Inspection and Test Plans (ITPs).
  • Verify compliance with customer specifications, engineering drawings, codes and standards.
  • Ensure measuring and testing equipment is calibrated and maintained.
Non-Conformance Management
  • Investigate quality issues and non-conformances.
  • Lead root cause analysis using structured problem-solving methodologies.
  • Implement and monitor Corrective and Preventive Actions (CAPA).
  • Verify the effectiveness of corrective actions and drive preventative improvements.
Team Leadership
  • Lead, mentor and develop the Quality Control team.
  • Allocate inspection resources across manufacturing and project activities.
  • Conduct performance evaluations and identify training requirements.
  • Promote a culture of quality, accountability and continuous improvement.
Supplier Quality
  • Monitor and improve supplier quality performance.
  • Participate in supplier qualification and evaluation.
  • Review supplier inspection documentation and certificates.
  • Support supplier audits where required.
Customer & Project Support
  • Liaise with customers, inspectors, consultants and third-party inspection agencies.
  • Coordinate customer inspections and Factory Acceptance Tests (FATs).
  • Ensure project quality documentation is completed and submitted on time.
  • Support project teams throughout manufacturing and commissioning.
Compliance & Auditing
  • Ensure compliance with applicable ISO standards, customer specifications, statutory requirements and industry regulations.
  • Plan and participate in internal and external quality audits.
  • Maintain audit records and ensure audit findings are closed within agreed timelines.
Reporting & Continuous Improvement
  • Prepare quality performance reports and KPIs for senior management.
  • Monitor trends in defects, rework and customer complaints.
  • Identify opportunities for quality cost reduction.
  • Recommend and implement continuous improvement initiatives.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Qualifications
  • National Diploma or Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Metallurgical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Quality Management or a related discipline.
  • IWI-S / IWI-C / CSWIP Welding Inspector or equivalent.
  • IWT/IWE qualification or strong practical knowledge of welding procedures, WPS, PQR and WPQ.
  • ISO 9712 Level 2 in relevant methods – minimum VT, PT, MT and UT.
  • AMPP/NACE CIP Level 2 minimum.
  • Strong knowledge of ASME Section VIII Division 1, ASME Section IX and ASME B31.3.
Experience
  • Solid quality control experience within manufacturing, mining equipment, mineral processing or heavy engineering environments.
  • Minimum 5 years' experience in a quality leadership or supervisory role.
  • Strong understanding and practical application of Quality Management Systems.
  • Proven experience with ISO 9001:2015 requirements and implementation.
  • Strong knowledge of welding inspection, fabrication, machining, assembly and pressure equipment quality requirements.
  • Ability to interpret engineering drawings and technical specifications.
  • Experience with inspection techniques, NDT and material traceability.
  • Experience coordinating customer inspections and FATs.
  • Knowledge of root cause analysis, CAPA and continuous improvement methodologies.
