Job summary

Takealot Group in Cape Town is seeking a Senior Software Engineer (Python) to join our fast-growing e-commerce platform. You will design and implement robust software, tackle complex challenges, and help keep our 24/7 systems running.

The role offers remote working with optional in-office collaboration, exposure to modern tech stack (Python, Docker, Kubernetes, Redis, Kafka), and opportunities to learn from industry leaders.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or Advanced Diploma in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field (or equivalent practical experience).
• 3 to 6 years in a software development role for a mid-level role
• 5 to 10 years in a software development role for a senior role
• Strong fundamentals in CS: OO design, data structures, algorithms
• Proficient in a strongly typed open source language such as Python, Java, Golang, etc.
• Experience with RESTful APIs and web services
• Experience with SQL databases and Linux development environment

Responsibilities

• Design and build solutions to assist our business users and improve customer experience
• Architect and design solutions with your team
• Develop code with high quality production standards and scale
• Develop and maintain automated tests
• Respond to production incidents and resolve issues across your division
• Collaborate on architecture proposals and alignment across the organisation
