Job summary

Takealot.com is seeking a Senior Software Engineer (Python) to build robust, scalable e-commerce software and contribute to architecture. You will implement best practices, develop production-grade code, and support 24/7 operations in a rotation for after-hours issues.

Ideal candidates have a strong CS foundation, 5–10 years in software development, and proficiency in Python, REST APIs, SQL, and Linux. Docker, Kubernetes, Kafka, Redis, and microservices experience are a plus.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or Advanced Diploma in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field.
• 3–6 years in a software development role for a mid-level role, or 5–10 years for senior.
• Strong fundamentals: OOP, data structures, algorithms.
• Proficient in Python; experience with REST APIs and SQL in Linux environments.

Responsibilities

• Design and build solutions to assist business users and improve customer experience.
• Architect and design solutions with your team.
• Develop high-quality production code for complex, scalable systems.
• Respond to and resolve production bugs and alerts.
• Collaborate on architecture proposals across engineering; contribute to internal docs.
