Job summary

Takealot Fulfilment Solutions (TFS) is seeking a Software Engineer (Python) to join our growing team in South Africa. You will contribute to the development of robust software for our e-commerce logistics platform, building features that scale with 30+ million orders annually.

You’ll work from a CS/engineering foundation, applying best practices in Python, Linux, and SQL, while continuously learning new technologies in a fast-paced environment with after-hours support on a rotation basis.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree or Advanced Diploma in Computer Science, Mathematics or Engineering or equivalent experience in software development.
• Thorough understanding of CS fundamentals: OO design, data structures, algorithms.
• 3–6 years in a software development role for intermediate level.
• 5–10+ years in a software development role for senior level.
• Experience writing robust, production-grade code.
• Proficient in Python (strongly typed).
• Experience in Linux environments.
• Experience with SQL databases.
• Open to diversifying language skill set.
• Desirable: MySQL, PostgreSQL, MS SQL; Memcached/Redis; message brokers (Kafka/RabbitMQ); Docker; Kubernetes; GitHub/CI; AWS/GCP/Azure; Microservices.
