Responsibilities

• Develop, implement, and monitor public health and sanitation policies and strategies for the Sandton area.
• Conduct environmental health and sanitation assessments and audits of establishments and public spaces.
• Investigate nuisances, complaints, and potential outbreaks, advising on corrective actions.
• Provide expert guidance to businesses and the public on sanitation, hygiene, and disease prevention.
• Oversee waste management systems and public cleansing operations for compliance and efficiency.
• Develop and deliver hygiene and sanitation training programs for stakeholders.

About the Role

Our client is seeking a highly experienced Senior Public Health & Sanitation Officer to join their team in Sandton, Gauteng. You will be responsible for ensuring compliance with all relevant regulations, conducting high-level risk assessments, and leading initiatives to improve hygiene standards across public spaces and commercial entities. • A minimum of 7 years of progressive experience in environmental health, with a strong emphasis on public health policy and sanitation management.
• Extensive knowledge of South African public health legislation, sanitation principles, and disease control measures.
• Demonstrated experience in policy development, risk assessment, and program management.
• Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
• Proven ability to manage complex projects and diverse teams.
• Proficiency in data analysis, report writing, and presentation skills.
• A valid driver's license and willingness to travel within the Sandton region and conduct site visits.
